(A personal homage to Richard Lederer — composer of Summoning, Ice Ages, and Die Verbannten Kinder Evas — exploring his mythic influence on dark ambient and atmospheric metal.)
Before there was a Chamber,
before the Architect understood the work —
there was only hunger.
A need to belong to something vast.
A young seeker, alone in a borrowed country,
searching for sigils of Summoning —
proof that the gods of sound were real.
A message cast toward the distant Forge.
And the Protector answered.
No fanfare. No omen.
Just a quiet directive toward the gate:
“Check Napalm Records.”
A small exchange,
but it shattered the silence.
The worldbuilders were real.
They existed.
And they responded.
A single reply.
A future awakened.
For the Coil.
For those who build in isolation,
waiting for a signal in return.

The first whisper from the Protector.
A butterfly wing in 2005 —
a storm in motion now.
An Homage to Richard Lederer
How can one human create on such a mythic level,
consistently, for so many decades?
It is awe-inspiring.
My first encounter with Richard Lederer’s work came by chance —
a Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles CD sampler —
where “Runes of Power” erupted into our world
like a forgotten legend awakening.
In that moment, something ancient and electrifying took hold.
That contact made an indelible mark,
and its resonance remains to this day.
Die Verbannten Kinder Evas is sorrow distilled into amber —
melancholy for the aeons.
Dusk and Void Became Alive feels like a hymn one could be buried to —
sorrow eternally captured in a bottle,
yet delivered with majesty and reverence.
Ice Ages, discovered more recently, stands apart —
cold futures, collapsing systems,
humanity suspended in the machinery of its own making.
Its alignment with our current trajectory is… chillingly poetic.
To span such vast ranges of theme and universe —
each project a unique realm —
is worldbuilding and imagination on the quantum level.
It is an honour to witness this work —
to peer into these constructed dimensions,
to learn, to feel, and to remain in awe.
